Vintage, mid-century framed oil painting by British Abstract artist Edgar Hubert. Original gold-leaf frame, which have signs of wear, even has original framing store sticker from Glendale, CA. Great piece from a fairly unknown artist.

His work was included in the ICA’s exhibition Forty years of Modern Art shown in 1948 and in the British Council’s exhibition La Jeune Peinture en Grand Bretagne shown in Paris and Athens. Until his work was shown at the Fine Art Society in 2005 Edgar Hubert was all but forgotten.

Hubert was born 1906 and died in 1985.

CONDITION NOTES: Some imperfections on the canvas, which could possibly be re-stored by a professional. Wear to the edges of the frame as shown in the images. I enjoy the vintage-look of the piece but could be re-framed easily if one wanted to.
